Enjoy the peace of the woods just 5 minutes from downtown Grand Marais! Our yurt offers a rustic basecamp for your North Shore adventure. Perfect for those looking for a simple stay before heading into the Boundary Waters, hitting the trail, or spending the day by Lake Superior. Relax, spend time with family or friends, share a board game or a meal. The yurt does not running water or kitchen, but a grill is provided for guests. A clean, well-lit outhouse is located near the yurt.

The Yurt at Basecamp du Nord is situated in the woods of the Pincushion Trail system, offering over 25 kilometers of cross country skiing opportunities in the winter and hiking opportunities in the warmer seasons. These trails connect to the Superior Hiking Trail so the adventure possibilities are practically endless.

There is one other rental on the property and guests share the outhouse which has two separate sides.

Guests have access to the outdoor seating area and grill outside of the yurt. Feel free to explore the area, but be cautious around the river, the ravine is a steep slope.

This space does not have running water. A clean and well-lit outhouse is located near the yurt. Some drinking water is provided but we recommend you bring additional water. Showers are available at the local YMCA for $13 or at the municipal campground in Grand Marais. The yurt DOES have electricity, WIFI and a wood stove. We like to compare our experience to camping but with a solid roof over your head and a comfy bed.

What to bring:

-Bedding and pillows (for 3 full size mattresses, and one twin mattress. A cot and a small futon are also available for sleeping)

-Cooking supplies, if desired (cook stove, pots, etc.)

-Eating supplies (plates, utensils, etc.)

-Water

-Flashlight or head lamp

-Trash bag(s)
